Mock Polls at 7-11 stores

Administration senatorial candidates enjoy a safe margin over opposition bets, at least in the mock polls being undertaken at the over 800 branches of 7-Eleven in the Philippines.

Spokesmen for Philippine Seven Corporation were quick to admit the Seven Elections is “unscientific” and does not qualify as a serious gauge of the electorate’s pulse.

However, Achilles Martinez, brand manager for 7-Eleven’s highly popular Gulp, said their mock poll was able to predict the outcome of the 2010 presidential elections with amazing accuracy.

He explained that similar mock elections sponsored in the United States by 7-Eleven, predicted the victory of George W. Bush in 2000 and Barack Obama in 2008.

Meantime, 7-11 marketing communications manager Irish Bernardez said that regular patrons of the convenience store chain are eagerly taking part in the Seven Elections.

In the April 10 episode of the talk show General Assignment with Miguel Gil, she also said that consumer interest in the mock poll seems to be positively affecting the company’s sales.  –– staff report
