Dong Feng Motor Philippines launched

Chinese automotive manufacturers firmly have their sights set on the Philippine market with apparently little regard for the simmering territorial dispute in the West Philippines Sea.

Dong Feng, which manufactures everything from luxury cars to HUMVIE-type military vehicles, formally made its local presence felt at the Manila International Auto Show at the World Trade Center last April 4, 2013.

Dong Feng representatives insist that their cars are technologically competitive with those made in Japan, South Korea and America but with a much more reasonable price tag.

Top officials of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremonies marking the launch of Dong Feng in the country.

PCCI president Francis Chua said healthy trade relations will go a long way in easing current geo-political tensions.
